1.4 - Progress Report #1 - Upcoming Changes

Hello everyone, I'm finally back and bringing some news and updates about the development of Text Quest.

No, I didn't abandon the project. Yes, there will be a playable update in the future and no, I don't have a release date yet.

Now let's see some of the good stuff I've been working on:

Interfaces - Tweaks and Changes

Character Creation

  • Adjusted the "Gender" button text to show the corresponding gender symbol;
  • Added two tabs: one for the character appearance and other for stats for better visualization;
  • Added a "Class Description" window on the Character menu, now you have a small overview of the classes along with a bit of lore;
  • Added a window so you can view your hairstyle/face even while wearing hats;
  • Added new hairstyles;
  • Changed the "black" hair color to make it look darker;
  • Fixed some bugs regarding stats when changing classes;

Now with a separate tab for character stats!

You can now  easily see your face/hair even while wearing hats. Also, there's a neat description of the chosen class.

Town Interface

  • Character info: adjusted the text for better visualization (the window on the bottom left corner) and added your HP/MP bar so you can know when you need to rest;
  • Added your Slayer and Noble ranks to the Character info window (more on that later);
Now you can see when you need to rest.

Shops

  • Now shops have distinct NPCs! They don't really do much, it's only for aesthetics but it greatly helps to distinct which shop you're visiting;
  • Item Descriptions: now item descriptions will highlight their effects text according to their type (green: positive, red: negative);

Meet Erica! Now you'll see her cute face everytime you visit the Blacksmith!

Loadout

  • Added a "Move All" option to make it easier to store/remove multiple items;

Now you don't need to click multiple times to get that stack of potions.

Mages Guild

  • Finally added the mage's guild, now you can visit it to learn new spells or equip the ones available;

You also have limited spell slots, so use them wisely!

The Arena

  • Arena Shop: You now have a special Arena Shop where you can buy special items with the newly added Arena Tokens (more items will be added in the future);
  • Arena Tokens: every time you complete the arena and defeat the boss you will earn a set amount of Arena Tokens (depending on the Arena difficulty);
  • Revamped Opponents System: now enemies will have more varied visuals, but I won't spoil that yet;

Now you can try and conquer the arena for special rewards!

Last but not least, the Rank System

  • Added the base of the Rank system, the main form of progression of the game;
  • Here you can increase your Noble or Slayer ranks using Rank Points;
  • Rank Points can be acquired by beating dungeon Bosses or doing special tasks while exploring;
  • Leveling your Rank will unlock new Dungeons, Items and Spells;
  • Depending on which Rank you level you'll unlock different rewards, so while you can level both you can choose the order on which to do it;

Choose which rank you'll level with the Guildmaster.

There are also some minor changes and A LOT of bugfixes. Most of the past months working on this game was rewriting old systems and cleaning up the code. There are still more things to come and development will continue.

Also, if you're interested keep watching cause I'll start posting progress reports more frequently now.
